My Speckled Sussex hen, Speckles, went broody Monday the 22nd. I wanted to make sure she was committed to doing it, and she has sat ever since on a empty nest. I took 10 eggs this evening and put them under her in a nest box and got her comfortable, I will move her into a more comfortable, private Inn tomorrow morning.

I love Speckled Sussex hens. They are definitely one of my favorites! Unfortunately I only and one, and another unfortunate thing is that I had to sell her when she was only two years old due to us moving, so I never got the chance for her to go broody. Apparently they make wonderful broodies! How old is she?

She was born on March 3rd of last year. So just over a year old!
