Does it look dry? I try not to help mine out, it sometimes ends up causing other problems.
When I do help I use a warm damp wash cloth to moisten it while I work with a damp Q-tip and something to peel the membrane away.
I have found if you are patient they usually work it out themselves...

My girls lay pretty good. I have 5 hens and I usually get a minimum of 3 eggs a day and on good days I get 5 but its usally 3 or 4.
I also have mottleds I just have not posted and ad for them yet. They have only been laying 1 or 2 a day I dont think they like the cold days! LOL

This is very interesting. I have chickens that go in at different times and some mill around for awhil in the coop before the light goes out and some are early to roost. Never thought too much of it. Wonder if there could be something to this.
