2015 New York Chickenstock

Will the feed be available for purchase at chickenstock?

Yes the feed will be available as as I do have certified organic fertilizer and I will be accepting credit cards

Do you know when they will be coming in? Will the turkeys be coming in if not then when?

The only ones of turkeys I am going to be getting in are actually going to be more expensive so was just going to order some for myself as they are going to be over $8.00 each if you want some let me know

I think the Moo Doo is just here in Vermont - it is composted and considered ok to use in certified organic gardens ... but it is made in Middlebury Vermont and I think it is not regional yet ....

I use Moo Doo too !!!!! :) Nice rich black soil.

Anyone on here have good ideas on how to keep bags of feed dry and stored ? I'd really like to buy a lot ! but storing is my issue - I have a small barn .... and you know it is open to rodents and circulating air and we humid summer days .....

What turkeys will you be ordering and would they be there by chickenstock?

Do you know if or when you are getting the other chickens that you had planned on getting?

I'm following this thread as best I can here in TX.

I''m anxious to come home. Baby is doing well, DD having some issues from birthing. DW has been doing far to much. I wonder if it was wise to come. We are the "help".

We survived without help but these two, I think are spoiled and that's not good I fear. Can you tell I'm in a mood? Bored to tears. Have looked at flights to come home even though there are three weeks left.

His parents moved here but are not willing to help. I think they may have the right idea.

DD at home lost one hen since we left, but I think the others are doing okay. I don't think it was her fault, mind you. She has two children to take care of. I miss them.
.
Well take care and remember to post pictures. Will miss you all.

Luv I will keep reminding DD that you will be coming by.

ta, ta for now

I store feed in large frosting pails from Walmart ..they are 5 Gallon ? hold 32 pounds of frosting ...they are usually free or they will sell them for .10 or so ..
Ask at the deli or bakery ...they normally throw them away ...you have to clean them out ...
But they are hard heavy duty plastic ...the tops are the same plastic and have a rubber seal...
when they are new ...they seal so well ..I sometimes have to take a screwdriver to pry them open .
Each one holds about 40 -45 pounds of feed.
I have also been storing the extra big bags that I dont have room for( I only have so many pails) in my Bilco / cellar entrance
( which I & the cat go through quite frequently ...so there hasnt been a problem )

The turkeys will just be broad breasted whites heritage are even more with the shipping. As far as any of the other chickens I am done getting chicks for the year I have some Rhode Island reds, some production blacks, California whites, partridge Plymouth rocks, all pullets and they will all be 5 weeks old at chickenstock and $5 each plus some unsexed Easter eggers and barnyard mix chicks which will be $2 each

...I guess that it is a good thing that the chicks that we needed to pre-order aren't coming in either..didn't really need them anyway

I just bought some heritage turkey poults from a farm in Oneida. If you want info let me know.

I am bringing cash to Chickenstock so I hope I don't come home with to many chickens. Lol. My dog killed another layer so I am down to 4. I need more eggs daily 3 is not enough!!!!! We eat paleo and gluten free so everything takes double the eggs if I bake.
