24 hour old chick with legs and feet issue.

Ha!! I've almost had my fill of peeping for a while. I've got a total of 13 chicks in my living room. They get LOUD!
Hahaha, yes, I can hear them on your videos!

OK, so here is the drawing. I drew it very quickly, hopefully it makes sense. (Edit: The area behind his foot may need to be wider and more squared off for more stability.)

That's a good start. I'll work on it tomorrow. I like the idea of the cardboard coming up the sides.

My response was slow because Seal was taking his sweet time to eat. He wasn't happy with me. 🙄😆 Finally got his crop full again. I'm trying to think how I'm going to get chick grit into him when he's not great with chunks yet. Maybe I can shove a piece at a time in his mouth. 🤔

I thought starter feed had some grit in it,...? You could grind up a few pieces and put them with his slurpee? Since he's so tiny, the ground up bits should suffice, or...?

That's what I was thinking, mixing it with his slurpee. Does starter feed have grit in it? I've always offered chick grit because "that's what everyone says you HAVE to do" to be a good chicken tender. The chicks love it and gobble it up, right from the beginning. It's amazing how instincts work.

Hmmmm, I've always thought that chicks do not need grit if they are eating starter feed, as it is formulated to be easily digestible. Considering Seal's extremely delicate constitution and just trying to get the best nutrition into him, grit is something that could wait... He's not eating anything that's not easily digestible, or is my thinking wrong? Could the grit get stuck in his crop or otherwise clog him up somewhere along the way?

I am very sad to say that Seal is not going to make it. He wouldn't eat this morning, I had to force him to drink, and he is very lethargic. I don't think he will pull through.
Thank you for all the advice and conversations. I appreciate you.
Awwww, I'm so, so very sorry! Things appeared to be going so well. Big hugs to you and little Seal. :hugs 💗:hugs💗

Thank you. I'm not sure what happened in the 12 hours over night. He won't open his eyes, either.
In one so tiny and challenged, you can only speculate. He was doing so supremely well. Did you add some honey to his slurpee, probably stating the obvious here...

It has truly been a fantastical journey of discovery and friendship, all thanks to little Seal. ❤️
