New toy. works pretty good for my purposes. I set it to 160°F and forgot about it. Didn't have to wait around tending the heating pot.

When I saw that it had reached the set point, I got the cockerel, removed its head, unplugged and removed the heater, dunked cockerel and easily plucked him.

It cannot be used in a metal container. I have no idea how well its longevity will be. For today it did well and I expect it do do well with the 1 1/2 bushel plastic tub that I currently use for soaking turkey carcasses.

They are pretty . Shame no one has them and they couldn't live in my climate anyway.

Many people think that poults are stupid because they have different instincts than chicks.

They are not stupid and can learn quickly.
