A new color (for us) 😊

We purchased a couple of older chicks at our flea market in the late summer last year. One turned out to be a rooster and a good one at that. He does a great job at keeping our ladies safe. If he hears or sees anything that may be dangerous he sounds the alarm and everyone goes into the hen house and waits for the “all clear”.
The other is a barn yard mix of some sort. She has Americana features so we were expecting a
Light blue/green egg. She started laying this week and to our surprise
She lays an olive egg. The picture below has our Americana’s to the right and the olive on the left.
I’m super excited because it’s not what we expected. Chickens never cease to amaze me.

This is the craziest of hobbies, but it is a lot of fun! April, my green starlight, started laying today. Out of 12, 4 are back in lay. The next few weeks, that should get better and better. So much fun.
