All the Christian Homeschoolers!

Hallo! I have a question of curiosity for any Protestants who are still getting notifs for this thread.

We have been talking a bit about Hades recently at church, since Pascha (Easter) is nearly upon us.

What do you all think/know about Hades, also known as Gehenna? I feel like it was never properly discussed as I grew up in the Baptist church, and I didn't have even a basic understanding of it before becoming Orthodox. I thought it was just Hell. It answered *so* many questions I had about the reasonings behind Christ's death and resurrection. So I'm very curious, what do you all know about it, and what do you think?

Catholics call Hades, "purgatory". https://catholicbible101.com/purgatory/

This may explain it
Yes, that definitely makes sense given what I already know about Catholic beliefs. It doesn't fit in with Orthodox beliefs, of course.
Long story short, in the Orthodox Church (as I understand, I'm just a Catechumen), we believe that Hades was destroyed/made obsolete by Jesus Christ when he was crucified.

:yesss:As of 2023 we are officially post-homeschoolers. I enjoyed running across this thread and reading about other homeschoolers Nationwide. It's good to see that it is still going strong 💪
