An Omen in the Sky

I was so down Tuesday night, earlier that day a dog somehow got into the backyard (surrounded by a 6 foot tall privacy fence) and attacked our chickens who were getting a couple of hours of free ranging. Only one was hurt, she lost most of the feathers around her rear, and some leg and wing feathers. The other girls were all traumatized too, but we eventually found them all and got the back in the coop.

I was really worried and upset about Peggy, the chicken that was attacked and hoped she would pull through. I went outside for a few minutes just to unwind. I saw the moon in the sky and took a photo. Only later did I notice what I had captured - a chicken in the sky!. I hoped it was a good omen.

And then, this morning, with her back side all red and no feathers, Peggy laid us a beautiful egg! I was thinking she was so traumatized that we wouldn't get any eggs from her for a while, but barely two days later she laid! What a good girl!
