Are raw cowpeas toxic like common beans?

I just found out my chickens stole a good amount of cowpeas from my vegetable garden. Are those safe for them or should I net the plants?

Pretty sure some feed them to chickens on purpose. Chickens are pretty good at knowing what they can eat.

they're fine. They are widely used as forage for livestock. Look them up on feedipedia if you want the details.
