best breed for hot florida weather

im thinking about getting more ducks and was wondering which breed would be good for florida? i had ttwo pekins a hen and a drake , but the drake died a few days ago.

i dont know how it happend, it could be from the heat or maybe it was when i went on vacation the duck sitter didnt give them water. they have a pool to swim in so i dont know if the heat got him (daffy).
what duck should i get in this hot weather?

here is a pic of dasiy (the hen) all alone with out a mate....

i put her in the chicken pen to help keep her company, and now see thinnks she is one of the chikens and tries to roost with them but fails

I have a pekin, welsh harlequins, and muscoveys. The Pekin and Welsh harlequins pant throughout the day with clean water 24/7 and they just pant and pant. The muscoveys are another story i never see them pant, they seem fine with the weather..of course thm being from south america i would expect it. Where in flroida are you located? i have some babies looking for homes!!

We have A Rouen, Pekin drake (from a fellow BYC'r who needed to thin her drakes down), a small flock of Buffs, and a flock of Silver Appleyards along with all of the Calls. The Calls definetly do better than the heavy breeds, but plenty of shade and water available allows the big ducks and geese to cool down during the day.

I have Runners and they rarely pant but there favorite spots mid-day are in the bushes or under the lawn chairs. I'm in Pinellas county. I also have babies 2 1/2 week olds available.

Sorry for your loss. Ive kept all the domestic ducks at one time or another and most of the exotic and migratory waterfowl. They will all do just fine. Dont worry. Just make sure they have access to a water source and some sort of shade to get out of the sun. Good luck on whatever ducks you choose.

I have runners and a black swedish. My runners are fine and run in and out of the water but my black swedish can not stand it. I have a fan in the duck house just for him. He runs from water to food to fan.

i have muscovy's and they do great. i'm in cocoa florida. i have 8 eggs incubating due to hatch an a couple of weeks
