Best Kill Cones???

IMG_5848.JPG

I like the price of this one, but if you do not have a cat and do not use this type of cat litter.... then the price isn't so great. Just find the plastic jug that fits the size of bird you want to process and mount it to where you want to do the deed. @Molpet gave me this idea and I used it a couple nights ago and it works.

I use an old tomato plant support cone and a traffic cone. I tip the tomato plant rack upside down so that the wide end is at the bottom, bend over the the ends that normally go into the ground and set a traffic cone in it. It's portable, cheap and works great. I've used the same setup for years on hundreds of birds with no issues.

trying to find one that is for large cornish cross - problem is the breast girth is large and the neck is not long enough - almost need a 'U' vs a 'V' with the hole at the bottom.
I have large metal cones and they do not slide down far enough to get the head out well.....

I have one each of all 3 sizes that MurryMcMurry sells. I have a wide range of need from light weight fryer to those really big CxR that are way beyond the 12 weeks of age. Some must weigh more than small turkeys. l hope to use the largest 2 sizes this weekend and if/when I do I will post with photos of how I did it. I'm using 5 gallon buckets to catch blood and haul the guts out to where I can trench compost. I have the heavy boards to mount the cones on. All I'm lacking at the moment is a tank of propane to heat water with for scalding.
