I have a few chickens about 4 to 5 weeks old in a good-sized brooder. It is kept in very clean conditions, clean water and plentiful food. When I clean brooders I have extra brooders so it is easy just to swap the chickens back and forth and use a fresh brooder. This morning while I was checking food and water in a fresh and clean brooder, I noticed that one of my four to five week old chickens what is dead. I picked it up and it was still limp and warm so I believe it just happened within the hour. Another one was acting really slow and druggie. So I picked her up to check on her and her butt exploded blood all over the ground. She went into a seizure and almost flapped out of my hands. I put her down on the ground where she slapped and kicked and went limped and blood drained out of her bottom in a puddle. I have never witnessed anything like this and quite possibly I think she may have worms. But the clean living conditions has me puzzled of how she could contrack worms. Any ideas? I have limited internet connection the last couple days so I really can't correspond back and forth that well. Although I will be reading your replies.
