Hi guys. First time posting here for a while. I’ve recently purchased 6 Blue/splash French copper maran. I’m quite new to the breed and was wondering if anybody has any ideas of gender.

They are 7 weeks old. Any reply’s would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

I second this.
Any update on if these turned out to be hens or roos? I have a of about 8 - 10 weeks who's comb has changed colour but not grown and I'm not sure if it's a roo or hen

Love to hear it !! Why do you think pullet though? Also do you think my estimation of age is correct. I bought these 2 weeks ago from a man in his 80s he said he didn't know what age that his incubator was running constantly. In one of the photos you can see her standing beside a pol sussex. There head were pales up to a few days ago. I've attached a pic of the other chick I bought with this one

The comb is tiny and the wattles haven’t started to come in yet. A cockerel would have a much bigger comb and wattles. I think it looks around that age but I have never raised marans before so I am not positive

I have never owned any maran either so I'm nor sure either. But every post I find that is asking if it's a hen or a roo from 6 weeks on the roo is always obviously a roo. Southend I think mine must be a hen. But I have older pullets with no colour at all on their face which makes me think it must be a roo. But I suppose it varys by breed. I was gifted chicks before and told they were hens but teo turned out to be roosters they eventually developed a comb and wattles and started mounting hens and even then I was in denial thinking they were hens because I was told they were hens 😂 I'd love it to be a pullet I love the colouring l also I have three roos already and not enough hens that why I bought more "hens" 😂

Chickens vary so much with how quick they mature. These two chickens are the exact same age and breed
