BlueTheBrahma’s thread!

@Auntiejessi3 I can’t remember if I’ve suggested this before but would it benefit you for me to send you pictures of the Orpington pages out of the British Poultry Standards? Or is the information accessible to you?
I don't breed them anymore, unfortunately. My roo did some serious damage to some of my older smaller ladies of different breeds (not on purpose, he was just entirely too big for them) I sold him and my blue orp hen to a fella who bought a ton of their chicks from me. I kept the rest of the hens, it's been downhill since. My splash died of a reproductive infection I just couldn't get a handle on, my lavender went broody a second time last summer during a heat wave and died in the nest box, and my sweet chocolate girl got a crop blockage that wouldn't come loose. All I have is Dahlia now and she is a healthy tough ol "B". But I appreciate the offer😊

That’s a shame, those big boys need big ladies. That’s why I’ve had to keep Blue with the breeding Brahmas despite his infertility, because he’s too big for the other hens (not that he treads them much anymore).

What birds you you have now?

I don’t usually do digital art but it’s easier to colour in. Here are some different colours I would want to breed the Grouseleg breed in. White-breasted golden is based on Freddy, and Gold-necked blue on my Braham cockerel ‘the colonel’.

The empty two are open for suggestions.

I’d focus on white and white-breasted golden first.

Yes they do, I wanted to breed them exclusively, but won't get rid of my OG ladies and my current setup doesn't have anywhere to put them.
I currently have:
5yr old Whiting True Blue
5 yr old Light Brahma
4 yr old OE
3 yr old English Orpington
2 yr old OE
1 yr old Splash Wheaten Ameraucana
1 yr old Wheaten Marans
2- 6 month old Wheaten Marans
1-8 week old Cream Legbar
2-8 week old Bielefelders
3-5 week old multigen OE's
1- 6 month old Wheaten Marans cockerel
And a partridge in a pear tree🤣

I love the white breasted golden, and blue breasted golden!
