I have a little chocolate runner drake who is 4 months old that did the same thing until last Sunday. All 6 girls would be in the pool mounting each other and acting crazy and he'd just stand by the side of the pool watching and drinking water. Maybe he's really young, shy, and hasn't figured things out yet? My little Sambo has gained lots of confidence since he became a "man" on Sunday!
Haha I noticed him watching them today!

I have wormed him and put him in a luke warm bath with detergent (like one of the websites said) i have him in his own pen with high vitamin meal and I'll repeat this for a few days and see if there's any change. He's some pictures of him. Not a happy chap

I hope it isn't cold where you are sure don't want him to chill. An it may take a good molt before you see a big change in his feathers.
It's been quite warm today but to make sure I have given him a blow dry and he's in a nice warm house. Thanks for all the help and advice. Really hope his feathers come back again, poor thing looks miserable x

Give him bathing water often that will get him preening and spreading the oils from his preen gland over his feathers that’s how they keep their feathers in tip top shape. Maybe add some top quality cat food to his diet that will give him some extra protein to also help with feather quality, but I think he’ll need a good molt to really be the best he can be.
