Our chicken (Leghorn) was struck by a vehicle last night. Unfortunately, we live in an area where there are no Vets close by that specialize in chickens. She has a flail chest on left side, broken right leg that I had splinted. I felt inside her vent for any broken eggs but only noticed major swelling. She made it through the night but had labored and then shallow breathing. She managed to eat a little bit this morning and drink some water that we put electrolytes in and with Flock Fixer supplements.
Since we don't have a vet close, does anyone have suggestions or have ideas to help with us with this? Thanks

My wife and I have chickens that free range. One of our hens (longhorn) was struck last night by a vehicle. She has a left side flail chest and a broken right leg. I splinted her leg. I felt inside her vent for any broken eggs shells. None, but I noticed major swelling. Now, unfortunately, we live in an area where there are no Vets anywhere close that works with chickens. Hoping someone has advice or has ideas on how to deal with this without a vet. Thank you.

If she hasn't suffered any internal injuries, she can heal. The color of this poop:

makes me think she's dehydrated. To stay properly hydrated, she needs no less than 5% of her weight in fluids each day. If she were mine, I would get to get no less than 10% in her.

Have you ever tube-fed?
