Chinese Crested Hairless dog??? Update Got a Crested Pics pg3!

I have one, Zoe, if you get one from a good breeder you won't have many issues, my girl has never been sick a day in her life! They do get acne, especially when they are "teenagers", but it clears up some when as they get older. She's currently in bad need of a grooming, but doesn't smell bad at all.

Zoe is not a barker, although she does howl (on que, rarely on her own), she's also housebroke, and never pooped in a shoe. Oh and no warts ever! She does have moles, and she gets a nice pretty tan in the summer, in winter she lightens up, but she's getting tan quicker and quicker as she gets older (she's 3 years old). She gets cold in the Winter and wears clothes, she prefers to sleep under the covers even in the summer. And I haven't needed sun screan on her, I have had to use it on my white and mostly white danes when we go out and spend allll day in the direct sunlight, and would probably put it on her to if we did, but so far I've not had her out in it like that, just day to day stuff.

I got her as a show prospect, but life got in the way so she was spayed last year. She's very sweet and loving, but she isn't/wasn't as trainable as my danes, she does listen very well though! And absolutely loves everyone! Although I wish I had socialized her alittle more.

I hope that helps!

(and Paisley is adorable! I love the black and whites, that is what I wanted originally!)

here are some pics!

Ok, I have 3 hairless. 1 is a hairy hairless that was a show dog, and he does have a few bumps on his skin BUT THEY ARE NOT WARTS. Warts is a term, not what they are. the other 2 I have, have perfect skin. So soft and manegable. I love my guys.....I am also involved in rescue. I love Zoe-she's just the color I want though I would like pure white furnishings. I want a dark brown dog so I'm glad to hear they get darker with age. Pip is also cute-I love the look!
I don't mind warts, bumps, etc. I have bigger things in life to worry about. I can only get one from imported stock & show breeders as there are very few in my country & they are the imports for showing so hopefully health won't be an issue. I'm undecided on whether I want a hairless or a hairy hairless though. Hairy hairless seem to have better furnishings & teeth but hairless seem to be lower maintenance for shaving-I don't feel like shaving my dog more often than my legs!

Thank you, Zoe's furnishings aren't completely white, they were very red/brown when she was born, but lightened as she's gotten older, the bottom two pics are the most recent and they look all white! But they are actually a very light blond, but have white in the middle (really that is the only way you can tell they aren't white), it's more obvious when she's getting a bath. She does have nice dark skin!

Personally I think they'd be a pretty good choice for showing and agility!

(Frank has beautiful skin)

What a bunch of beautiful babies!!!
My AHT is named Frank, too. :lol He's Frankie, Frankie panky, The Frankinator, Franktastic, etc.

I think the AHT's are a bit more sturdy than the CC's. Basically, an AHT is a hairless Rat Terrier. Frankie has his own wardrobe, loves the sun (after he gets his sunscreen) and HATES the winter! :lol
We've had no health problems with him, the AHT's don't get the dental issues that other hairless breeds get. They do get stinky, though, but I love it! Frank gets his bath once a week and his feet wiped and hiney and bits wiped at the end of the day.

Here's a pic of his nibs:

Hey! I love this thread cuz I have a hairy hairless too! He was a rescue from a horrible situation. Pippin is now almost 2 years old and the best dog ever. He is always at my side.

Two of my professors have powderpuff hairless and they are wonderful little dogs. We use them for all kinds of clinical skills like taking blood pressure, respiration, etc.

LOL-they have many uses!
I am now totally hooked on the AHT & am so undecided on which breed to get.
AHT or Crested???
HELP!!!
