My local tractor supply store got in new checks today. They said they are a colorpack. According to them they are legbar crosses that are not Easter Eggars and if they are not at all related to Easter Eggers So now I’m really confused. So what the heck are they? Are they just another Version of Easter Eggars? Has anybody had them and what do they think of them?

Think of Easter Eggers as off-brand ameraucanas, rather than as coloured egg layers. The meaning of the term "Easter Egger" differs according to who's using it.

edt: So yeah, they'll lay green eggs; they're just not Easter Eggers by that person's definition of the term.

So it sounds like it is just a marketing ploy. A chicken that could lay blue green or whatever colored eggs. Like an Easter Egger.

Not sure if this helps... but I found 2 things online, the first seems to be crosses that include ccl... but it’s not from tractor Supply

The second is from tsc, but not termed “colorpack”, but instead is called “ color production pack” and seems to be a collection of breeds each producing different colored eggs

If they said they're Legbar crosses, then that is what I'd believe they are. Crested Cream Legbars lay blue eggs. So they obviously crossed them with something that still lays either blue or green eggs. An Easter Egger is usually considered a watered down Ameraucana, so these wouldn't technically be those, as far as the hatchery/store is concerned.

So this website describes the color pack chick's better than anywhere I've looked. My local store sold color pack chick's as well, and my chick's "Cleopatra" and "Lemonade" look exactly like the chick's in the picture shown.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The chick's on the website shown have no relation to Ameraucana, but are a hybrid with a legbar chicken.

Did this link take anyone else to a 'brown and white' assortment?

EE's are a cross of Ameraucana and other breeds.
Hatcheries typically call them Americana, Ameraucana, Araucana...but the fine print will often dispel that myth. I call them AmerauKindas.

@Mosey2003 ....I'm having visions of wet chickens :gig

Ditto Dat^^^

Jenks Hatchery here in Oregon states they developed the ColorPack layer from 3 different breeds, including Cream Legbar. They describe them as being "similar" to Easter Eggers, with varying color patterns, so I'm thinking the other breeds might be True Blue Whiting and Ameraucana or EE. I was tempted to buy a few chicks when my local feed store got them in a couple of months ago but didn't..
