Chicken math is out in full force this year and I need to expand. My chicken is mostly free range and I have huge covered run for them when they are not out free ranging. But my coop where they sleep are getting very cramp!
I’m getting this 8x12 old shed and is planning on converting it to coop. I’ll have to fix the roof and floor up but most everything are still in good shape.
The shed will be in full sun all day.
This is what I plan
- section off the first 4 feet of the shed to be a work station/storage/nursing station. The chicken will still have 8x8 space.
- the run fence will come up to the side of the coop so I want to add another door on the side to access the run area without having to exit the coop from the front door.
- reduce the front door to only 1 in stead of double door.
- add chicken door
- roost on 2 sides and have poop board.
- poop board will have 4” pipe at one end for me to push all the poop down the drain. The pipe will have cap at the end to prevent any animal crawling in from outside.
- I need more light, what’s the best way to get more light. (No electricity)
- I need more ventilation. Any idea?
Any suggestion?
