Cracked beak with blood caked underneath

My poor girl somehow injured her beak. I tried cleaning it this morning but the blood is caked under her broken beak. I sprayed vetricyn on it.

She laid an egg this morning, is preening herself now, and generally is acting okay. She can't eat hard pellets or mealworms but she can eat mushy fermented food and she ate a whole scrambled egg. She can't close her beak all the way which is why she's struggling to eat.

I called a bunch of vets and none are available until at least 6 days from now. What should I do? I will continue hand feeding and spraying vetricyn but I'm worried about not getting vet care because this seems pretty bad.

Poor thing! It sounds like you've made some good steps with getting her wet food. Is she drinking normally? It's a good sign she's still preening and laid an egg. I'll tag a couple Educators to see if they have any advice.

On a personal note, I had a Barred Rock with a cracked beak and I can tell you that the cracked part eventually fell off and she re-grew it so not all is lost. This case does look a little worse because it's so close to her nostrils. You might want to take a photo of the other side so the Educators have all angles.

Thanks so much. I added a photo of the other side.
I see her trying to drink* but every time I come outside she runs up to me. I just fed her a scrambled egg and she struggled but did eat it. It looks like it's bleeding again up by her nostrils.
*She is drinking but I'm not sure how much water she is getting.

Also, it looks like the bleeding is where her beak meets her comb and it's dripping down her beak.

Until Wyorp or Eggcessive can offer advice, I'd suggest keeping her separate from the others since she's actively bleeding. The blood will attract pecking. Try to keep her clean so the blood doesn't cake on. I'm sorry she's not well.

Thank you for your care and advice!
When your chick broke her beak, what did you do? Just monitor and hand feed?

I have never treated a broken beak, only have read some about them. It is very painful for a few days. You are doing right offering mushy wet feed and scrambled egg. Crumbles may be easier to eat than pellets. I would try to get a regular vet familiar with broken beaks or an avian vet. I have seen where some use an empty tea bag cut to size with super glue to help repair broken beaks. Here is one link to read:

Thanks, I did see that article when I was first googling. Due to the amount of blood under the beak I do not want to super glue because I don't want to trap in any dirt. I've called about 6 vets so far and can't get any help within the next few days. So crazy!!
