I've read through a ton of the 'cracked eggs that made it threads' and wanted to check if everyone agrees with my "plan of action".

Egg # 1 - Might be able to "repair"? Visible dent, but quite a bit of fractures running around the egg. Hoping to cover this one in wax.

Egg # 2 - Looks to just be hairline cracks - leave it alone and hope for the best?

I fixed two like this last month with wax. Both hatched. In fact, one was worse than this. Also have one in the bator right now with a crack like this that I waxed and it's developing on day 9 still.

I definitely would not leave it. If air can get in at all it could dry it out more.

i tryed to mend one with wax but it didnt work but it doesnt mean it wont work its just a try and see i think it all depends on the egg and the embryo

I have done 2 that were similar and hatched. I just put nail polish on one a few days ago and just candled, looks like it started but also looks like it's starting to form a blood ring

. Wish I would have taken the time to wax instead, not positive that's the cause but I will never know....

Thank you! They are Black Copper Marans - candled with a high-powered "tactical" flashlight.

By the way, if you totally cover an egg in wax or polish, the chick will die due to NO air. You want to cover big cracks to not allow it to dry out, but don't cover too much or you stop the egg's pores from exchanging the gases properly. At least that's what I read.

That's why I'm wondering if it's even worth it - the fractures go pretty much around the whole egg. These were pricey shipped eggs (aren't they always?!)
