Cross Breeding a Cackel Hatchery Brown Leghorn to A Cackel Hatchery Black Breasted Red Jungel Fowl

Thank you so so very much Mystery Chicken. My neighbor and friend let me see if you dont shut them up at night you just feed predators.I just went and looked at my friends Red Jungle Fowl they are small. I am going to start building a trap for them. Is a 4foot by 4foot by 4 foot high cage big enough for a breeding pair ?

6X7. They're an active, & flighty bird. I keep mine in a large coop, & free range them off, & on.

What could I breed my Red Jungle Fowl and Wild Games to to get a bigger bird. Would Buckeye be a good cross or Brown Leghorns .. I dont want them to loose there ability to take care of there selves , parisite resistance, there good qualities. If we were still in the Philippines all this wouldnt be a problem. My wife is a Filipino she knows a lot about what I am trying to raise. They raised this type of chicken when she was a kid .They would feed the chickens where they would come back to roost in a coop. She said she would follow the hens when she let them out of the coop to find the eggs. Said she would leave 2 or 3 that way the hen would lay in that nest again. They had trouble with big lizards.

It'll be a difficult task to increase the size of a JungleFowl cross. Increasing the size, may have to result in back crossing to the larger breed.

It was a American Guinea Hog that a wild boar had breed his sow. Now I am butchering my hogs and buying pigs from him. I also got some chickens from him. One hen has 10 chicks that look real good.I still think I am going to get some Black Breasted Red Jungle Fowl from Cackel Hatchery. Mystery Chicken what do you think of the Dark Cornish Game

I have no real experience with Dark Cornish, since I never owned any, but would like too. If you get the Heritage type, not utility type(Egg Producing), you'd have good meaty birds to use.
