Dewormer

What is your general location? Is it warm and tropical in the deep south? You vet may be willing to do a fecal float on some collected mixed droppings if you ask ahead of time. Some do not without seeing the chicken or may not see chickens. Many people here that live in GA. FL. LA, and Tx, see more worms than those that live farther north in cooler or more arid climates. In hot humid areas I know people who worm every other month. In cooler climates some may worm once or twice a year.

Valbazen cattle wormer is safe and easy to use. Dosage is 1/2 ml orally for most chickens 4-6 pounds given orally on day 1 and day 10. Others use SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer and dosage is 1/4 ml per pound of weight given orally for 5 consecutive days. Do not dilute, and be sure to shake the bottle well since those settle out.

Valbazen costs more at around $55 for 1000 doses. It is found online. Some stores may sell if, but SafeGuard is more easily found in feed stores as well as online. It requires 5 doses to treat the same worms as Valbazen with 2. Both treat roundworms, cecal, capillary and gapeworms with those dosages. Tapeworms, which are more rare, are better treated with Equimax horse paste or praziquantel. Here is where to order Valbazen to the store to pick it up:

Yes I live in South MS. Idk if we even have any vets in my area that will take care of chickens but I will check on that.
