Deworming my chickens

I use Apple Cider vinegar once a week for natural deworming. I wonder if anyone uses anything else twice a year for deworming? If so what is best to use?

Unfortunately, ACV is not really a dewormer, it may help as a probiotic.

The best way to know if you need to deworm your flock is to take a sample of their poop to your vet to have a fecal float. If you find they need to be dewormed, most use Fenbendazole (Safeguard Liquid Goat dewormer or Equine Paste) or Albendazole (Valbazen) to deworm their flocks. Frequency of deworming really depends on your climate and whether or not your flock has worms to begin with.


To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole). Both are given orally by weight; they do not mix well with water.

Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.

Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days

Acv is not remotely a dewormer.

Safeguard, Valbazen or Levamisole are the way to go when it comes to worming chickens. I prefer Valbazen.
Equimax or Zimecterin Gold for tapeworms.

You want a wormer that kills worms. Natural dewormers such as the product you mention wont prevent nor kill worms.

Isn’t it strange that the product has 4.8 out of 5? Is it because people just feel better about it? Like when they take multivitamins despite having been diagnosed with no deficiencies?

Feel better is a state of mind, it doesnt have anything to do with eliminating worms in chickens. They dont know anything about the roundworm lifecycle.
