Do hens in a flock synchronize like co-eds in a dorm?

Can they do that?

I have 6 laying hens. All but 2 are different breeds and sizes.

I regularly get 4 eggs or 2 eggs or none. I never get 6 or 5 or 3. Just 4 or 2 or none.
Well, normally I can get any number of eggs, odd or even, from my laying hens. I have 7 now and because I'm not extending the light in the coop and they are all finishing their molt, I'm lucky if I get one. LOL

Where there seems to be some 'togetherness' is about broodiness. Often one hen deciding to be broody 'encourages' other hens to do the same thing. I doubt that there are any actual studies about this though.
Broodiness is hormone driven, and genetic, but sometimes appears in clusters in a flock.
