I am looking for dog food recipes that include the "other" parts of chicken. I want to bless our other animals with our broilers with the stuff I know my family won't eat. Since we are processing with severeal other couples I may be able to get their leftovers as well. Also plan on using the unedibles in our composter!

I buy 10#' bags of chicken legs and thighs and pressure cook them for 1 hr and 20 min. Afterwards I grind them in the food processor which turns them into a puree which I mix with cooked rice. If you pressure cook the bones you can feed them with no problem. There is a lot of goodness in the bone marrow.

If you don't cook them at all, you can feed them to dogs with no problems, too. My Staffie's fav treat was raw chicken feet. Mastiff prefers lamb bones, LOL!

not dog food, but how about some Crunchy dog treats. my dogs love these.

Liver Diamonds

Ingredients:
3 c whole wheat flour
3 c quick cooking oats
2 tbsp brewers yeast
1/2 c canola oil
1 lb chicken liver ; pureed
3/4 c molasses
6 eggs

Directions:
Mix flour, oats, yeast and oil together until well combined.
Add the chicken livers, molasses and enough eggs to make the mixture into a cake batter consistency.
Pour into a greased 9x13 cake pan.
Bake at 275° for 30 minutes. Remove pan from oven and cut into diamond shapes. Reduce heat to 200° and place pan in oven. Bake for 2 1/2 hours more, until dry.
Turn the oven off and leave the pan in the oven overnight to complete the drying process. This will prevent mold.
Store treats in the refrigerator. The diamonds may be frozen.

I freeze the chicken feet and feed to them on hot days - they love them! BTW Hubby was not impressed when he opened the freezer and saw 10 chicken feet sticking up from inside a cup on the inside door! hahaha!!!

I gave my dogs chicken feet. My big dog accepted the foot and then opened her mouth and let it fall out. The legs were the only thing my yearling food guarded wouldn't guard. :idunno
