Dog thread!🐾

ANYBODY ELSE TELL THEIR DOG THEYRE NOT GETTING SOMETHING AND THEN CAVE ANYWAY? I am soooooo guilty of this. This is why he doesn’t move when I tell him he’s not getting it. Because he knows that means he is. Lmaoooooo but tbf he knows that NO actually means NO!!!! I made sure of that one. This is strictly with begging/food. LOL

EXAMPLE:

*Brewster begging and is like fairly close to me/staring but not quite in my face lmaooooooo*

So I’m like…

“You’re not getting any… You know you’re not getting any, right?”

And he’s like…

*Lays down/moves slightly further away LOL*

*I continue eating*

Me two seconds later: “okay fine” *purposely drops some on the floor*

:lau  🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I don’t allow begging😂

I used to be much more against it and made our last dog wait outside the kitchen while we ate and no feeding from the table etc. etc. (although even him I eventually caved on begging after a while LOL) but now I’m like “but he’s so CUTE and it’s so HARD not to give him anything!” :lau  I really need to work on not though or at least LESS and LESS treats because he is somewhat overweight still. Not by a TON and he’s lost some weight but still. 🙈 anyways, I don’t allow obnoxious begging like RIGHT in my face which he kind of was at first 🤣 which is why I was like “you’re not getting any” aka go away/move back a bit LOL then when he did, he got a little tiny bit. But yeah. I should really work on it though.

Have not walked Brew yet this morning… ate breakfast first. Now I’m going to take my meds. And then I will go. I want to walk him before this coming week. We are supposed to get an arctic blast. Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to be the coldest days and then it warms up a lot but tomorrow is supposed to be quite cold too. High of 25° with a low of 11°. Tuesday is supposed to be 20° and 8° and Wednesday is supposed to be 19° and 7°. But the wind chill could be in the negatives. Actually it’s predicted to be like -10 I think. So I want to walk him today since obviously we won’t really be able to get out much this week. LOL

HOLY MOLY!!!!!

I just walked him and we had a GREAT walk EXCEPT for the VERY END when we were about to round the corner to come home and then DID the corner and were literally one house away from ours…… we encountered two triggers right after the other. BAM! He did get to sniff and mark after the first one so calmed down somewhat but then the second one came right after that! WHAM! BAM! 😭😭😭🤣🤣

I just ordered Brew some wet food to entice him to eat more so I can win the strike and so we can finally finish up the bag of the other stuff we got given and literally have like two or three cups left of that’s taking us days to finish 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
I wouldn't add the wet food, to be honest. I'm afraid he will never eat kibble without wet food on it again. Soaking the kibble in water or broth is a better option. Switching from free feeding to a couple meals a day can also help.

I do understand the concern but honestly he’s not like that. I used to add wet food for like every meal and then I just stopped one day and he went right back to eating the kibble 🤣🤣🤣 he could take or leave wet food. He doesn’t like soaked foods though unless it’s like flavored and even sometimes he still doesn’t if it gets too soggy. I did actually switch to meals for a while but then recently like within the last week or two I’ve begun just adding the whole days worth at once again lol  I think I’ll go back to meals. But I’ll still leave it in there till he eats it. Just split the food up again. But yeah. Thanks!!!!!!

It is actually recommended to take the food away after about 10 minutes to teach them that meal time is the only time they get to eat. If he doesn't eat, well, he can get more treats during training. But as long as he's healthy he won't have a problem missing a meal.
