Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I've seen a similar mole on TV, but I hope never to see one in real life.

Has Annie's brother been out to look at the thermostat yet, Jim?

I got the furnace repair bill yesterday (they show up fast for service and invoice quickly for payment!) and it was only $112, which I felt was reasonable. He drove out to the country, was here for more than an hour and put up with my nosy critters while he worked. One of the cats kept trying to crawl inside the furnace when the side panel was off. I picked his brain on a number of other issues, and he put up with me just as pleasantly as with the cat.

It's back to single-digit cold. Although it was great to have "warm" weather yesterday, I had two hens with bloodied combs. Also, after the double-negative-digit cold spell, I spotted a bit of frostbite on the combs of several birds in different coops.

My oldest cat, Ziva, appears to be having another issue with her ears, and there are No Vets staffing the animal hospital until February. But, then again, I couldn't take Ziva to town in the loaner because pets are not allowed in the vehicle.

Yes, my car is STILL at the dealership. At this point, I can't imagine what the insurer and the dealership are negotiating about. Either pay for the repairs or don't, but I'd like my car back before I hurt myself or the Explorer while trying to figure out all electronic crap. Its best feature, aside from actually running. is the heated steering wheel.

January is proving to be much, much more challenging than I'd like. I am crossing my fingers for no more drama this month and setting my sights on a Good February!

Just dang cold out again. That's my announcement.

Barb on with you on this month stinking. Everything seems challenging. Hope you get your car back soon. Do you think kitty has ear mites or an infection? With those new cats I'd suspect ear mites which can be treated with an over the counter product like Adams ear mite treatment which I've used with great success.

We're back down to 10 below this morning, January can get out now.

I saw a mole like that when I was a child but it was the size of a mouse, and it was dead. I thought the star on its nose was a hand and it was deformed.
I hate the cold this year. Seems colder.

I had good laugh with thinking mole has a hand on it's face. It is how they use it. Groping around in the dark looking for worms.

I talked with the "service adviser" at the dealership yesterday after the adjuster called her. Turns out, Megan was out sick this week, and apparently neither of the other service advisers could cover her work load because they are So Busy. That's a load of crap. A face-to-face with the dealership's owner is on my to-do list, once I get my car back -- if ever.

Lisa, I don't know if it's mites. When we last saw the fill-in vet at East Lawn, she just said Ziva's ears were dirty. The practice is in transition with a new vet coming on board, and no vets are available until February.😒 It takes two people to clean Ziva's ears, one to clean and one to hold her still. My sister is coming up next week, so we'll try.

@Cebarmlds, I love that you thought the mole had a hand on its face!

It's 1 degree out this morning, but it's supposed to hit 30 this afternoon. Hurray!!! If it's that nice in Wisconsin, I expect that you will be churning up some sawdust in the shop, Jim.

Here's to warmer weather for all of us!

Does your vehicle run? it's yours so if so you can, go get it, take it somewhere else.

Enjoy your 30 degree weather!

Whether it runs is probably a matter of whether the entire dashboard has actually been removed yet, as I've been told it needs to be. If I can't get any satisfaction from talking to the local dealership's owner, I will go higher up. I have made very good, detailed notes to support my conversation.

It's already 10 degrees! I'm almost giddy😁
