Hello all, I have five wobbling duck eggs but none have pipped yet. Should I be concerned? I’m a first time incubator. Thanks!

I’d also like to add I haven’t heard any peeping.

What is your temperature now and what was it during incubation? Have you candled them and checked for internal pips? What breed are they?
Usually my duck eggs start pipping on day 25, but some won’t pip until day 27

It’s set automatically to 100.3 but my thermometer read lower, like 99-100 ish. Humidity is at 72%. I haven’t candled them because I thought you were supposed to leave them alone during this period, they are a barnyard mix of Swedish, khaki Campbell and Cayuga.

This also may be significant but I can’t remember if I set them on the 4th or the 5th, I’m pretty sure I only marked the 5th as counting for the full first day but I can’t be sure.

Edit: I checked my order and it is indeed correct as the 5th being the first full day.

You can safely candle them since there are no external pips. Even with pips, you can candle them as long as you open and close the incubator quickly. But it’s a good sign you’re seeing wiggling

The temperature should be ok

If I were to candle them, could you tell me exactly what I should be looking for? And what I could do? Thank you very much for helping a newbie such as myself.

What you would be looking for is an internal pip, which means that the duckling has stuck its bill into the air cell. You will see something moving around in the air cell. If you listen closely you may also hear clicking which is the sound of the duckling breathing. If they haven’t internally pipped yet, you may see shadowing around the air cell, and movement of the duckling pushing against the air cell.

If the ducklings have internally pipped, I would not worry about them. So your eggs are on day 26?
