Hi there, I've had calls in the past as pets but they are a bit too loud for our neighborhood. I'm looking into getting east indies and I have three questions:

1) Exactly how much bigger are east indies than calls? I'm asking because my cage is fairly small and I want to make sure they would fit. Any measurement comparisons or side by side photos of calls and east indies would be really helpful!

2) I am a SUCKER for friendly birds. I've heard east indies are more shy than calls but does that mean they're more skittish? I'd be hatching and spending a ton of time with these babies and I'd hope they'd follow me around and like to be held and not run away when I try to pick them up etc.

3) Does anyone ship east indie eggs in the US? I would be willing to pay very, very well as these are the only ducks I would have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time!

(Thanks for the tag @Miss Lydia )

I have a pair of black East Indies and I also raise call ducks. :)

Here’s some size comparison photos. They are longer and larger.

My East Indies are much more skittish in comparison to my calls. It could just be the specific ducks, but even with as much attention as I give the calls, my pair does not like to be handled. They are flighty in comparison to the calls, which have a very calm demeanor. I have a few hatching this week. I can get some measurements on them when I get home.

They are beautiful birds!

Thanks so much for the response! I'll definitely take this all into strong consideration...
If you could get any measurements that would be outstanding! I really appreciate it!!

I have BEI’s and they are very friendly and very sweet. They aren’t very big or loud. I have eggs but I don’t think I’m allowed to ship them to the US :(
