My broody hen just hatched out a few chicks and they look nothing like the parents looked as chicks. All my Easter eggers had the classic chipmunk look and these 2 babies came out looking like silver and tan Yorkies (yes the dog breed). I know Easter eggers are just mixed breeds but I got these from a hatchery that says they have a long line of Easter eggers that they created in the 70s so they should genetically run true or at least slightly. Just curious if anyone has had an Easter egger baby that looks like these. I’ve attached pics of the chicks and the adults I have, I let the broody hen sit on all of my Easter egger hens eggs and her own

That's what the Columbian pattern looks like on chicks. The rooster looks like he has that coloring, so the chicks will probably have his pattern, but in buff.
oh okay thank you! This is the rooster as a baby, I guess kind of similar he was just mostly black. So you think this baby’s silver will turn black with age?

I ordered 6 Ameraucana pullets last March. They all looked exactly the same when they were 3 days old. Every one of them look completely different as adults. That's why I love them. You never know what you're going to get.

Much Love from Frederick County Maryland 🙏🤎💙😢🇺🇸💙🤎🙏
