Egg trays in Brinsea/Rcom cabinet incubators

So we have a new cabinet incubator (Rcom Maru 380) . I bought the universal trays with it but quickly found out they are totally useless for pea eggs . So I bought a set of the green (gqf) egg trays that @KsKingBee has in his Brinsea 380. But I'm having an issue with them too - the eggs fit fine, but sliding the tray in or out of the incubator shelf is a nightmare, especially when full of eggs. The problem is the "feet" on the egg tray catch on the edge of every single one of the large holes in the metal tilting tray.

So has anyone with a Brinsea 380 or Rcom Maru 380 who are using these trays having the same problem, and how do you solve it?

Here's a picture that hopefully explains the problem better. Looking from underneath the tilt tray ... the "feet" at the red arrows are catching against the hole in the tray stopping it from being pushed back, the ones at the yellow arrows will catch next.
That happens on every hole

Have you tried cutting a thin piece of cardboard or rigid paper to lay across the bottom of the cabinet (where the air holes are), then insert your egg tray, and then slide the cardboard right back out again? Kind of like a pizza peel?

I tried something similar with a kitchen cutting mat (thin plastic). It sort of worked but was very tricky to do for the back trays (each row is two trays deep) without getting a bigger mat - which I considered.

But, it doesn't help at all when trying to slide them out, you can't slip the mat back under as it catches on every tray foot

I've ordered some perforated plastic mats to put on each shelf and would then just leave the mat in. Waiting for them to arrive

Yikes! It definitely sounds like your more permanent solution is the better one. Come on mail!

and put the trays in that. Downside: it's insanely expensive for what it is $33 (+tax+shipping) each - I'd need 3

If the mat doesn't work then I might look into making something similar

If you want the dimensions, you can easily fabricate those trays yourself or have a local tinsmith make them for you. As for the cost being expensive, it is a one time cost that can be amortized across the life of the incubator.

So the perforated plastic mats look they're going to work. I ordered the largest ones I could find 23.5" x 16.5". Ideally they would have been half inch longer, but couldn't find any larger. I cut them down to 12.5" wide and just laid them on the shelves. There were a few molding nubs that were easily removed and the egg trays slide nice and smooth.
