is there such thing as a brush for my birds' feathers? For right now I have a very very soft brush for a horse's face, but I'm not sure its the best to use, didnt know if there was such a thing as a feather brush. If so any good places to get? I looked in tsc and was given the horse brush... thanks!!

I've never heard of a brush for chickens and I would be afraid it could damage the feathers. Usually chickens are pretty good about keeping themselves preened and tidy. We did have to give "spa baths" in warm water for an egg-bound hen but then we just wiped her down with a towel with the grain and directions of the feathers. Why would you need to brush them? If anything, show purposes or whatever, I would think wiping them with a soft cloth would be better than a brush.

Yes, chickens 'brush' their own feathers by preening, to keep all the filaments locked together.
Why do you feel the need to brush them?
Are their feathers 'messy'...some pics might help here.

Yeah my birds green their feathers but I just want to make sure before he comes in the house no bugs or anything is in him. I also want him to look his best. He's a goose if it makes any difference

He is very tidy with his feathers, I want to make sure before coming in the house he doesn't have any mites or anything, and I also want him to look his best for show. He doesn't go into actual shows but I hold my own animal tours I guess you could call them and he is my main part. I just dont want to damage his feathers as you said

We have a sand area for them to take dust baths. That keeps mites down and really keeps their feet clean. We used to let them just dig around in the yard for dust baths, but they really love the clean sand!

Ahhhh that would be a good idea. I have a sandy area so I'll just have to do that! I'm just so scared to try any kind of brush not specifically made for feathers. Thanks!

Oh, well.......a goose....needs water deep enough to bathe in.

Why are you keeping a goose in your house?
Because...

Is it this same goose?:

I do have a very big and deep pool he loves to bathe in. He's only a gosling , I've been raising him up to join the rest. It's not the same goose as that one, I have a lot. That one is better btw. I don't have a "goose house" set up yet, who be setting up one in the near future. I got the stains out too..
