I have a mixed flock of ducks and chickens and need to reevaluate their feed. I know ducks need a lot of protein and niacin and chickens don't. I currently feed them a crumble feed that is 22%protein and higher niacin levels. All my birds are over a year old and healthy. Is it OK to move them all to a different type of food that is about 16% protein and normal niacin levels? I want to keep.my ducks healthy and strong, but save a little money as well. Thanks for the advice ahead of time.

What kind of ducks do you have?

and at least locally, the 18% and 20% protein all flock type formulations are significantly cheaper than the 22-24% cp.

If you have Pekins, they need extra niacin, even as adults, as compared to a "regular" chicken feed. Some of the other duck breeds do not.
