I don't wash until ready to use...unless I have really mucky one. Then it gets washed...and used immediately.

It’s a requirement here to wash eggs that are sold. I don’t wash eggs that are clean, but any of the icky ones I do. Don’t want anyone to complain!

Mum keeps the small eggs from Mrs LC and the silkies for her baking, if they are dirty she doesn’t wash them until she uses them.

Do you refrigerate yours?

All this stress is not worth a stroke or heart attack, so I’m taking things slowly today. If need be, I have my emotional support rooster, Mr Wyandottey for comfort.
Yes please rest, you did the hard work with the wee little one bringing him to the Vet. ♥️

Was the vet able to do anything other than meds?

I’ve read people complaining about the “non-stop peeping” (not even the calls for help) and that’s why they don’t like brooding in their house. They’re nuts!
They aren’t listening closely enough. It’s not a monotone of peeps, it’s a beautiful sonic landscape.
Sometimes, it is loud because some people don't keep them warm enough - especially shipped chicks need it quite warm when they first arrive because they are starved and cold. The loud distressed peeps are very hard to listen too (mostly for me because I know they are unhappy - and it gets me immediately into the brooder room to see what is wrong!)

But I completely agree with you - I love listening to the sound of the little peepers - and momma hen 'talking' to them - comforting clucks, knowledge passing clucks - tidbitting sounds (eat this, it is good!) i just love the whole thing. 🥰 🥰 🥰

It's just marvelous. A real treat for anyone who gets to watch it.

Thirsty Thursday

Paddling about in the puddle from the wild water.
