Very interesting! It would be hilarious if that big ol cochin lays bantam sized eggs haha. I will keep an eye on them and see what I can find out.
I will try to get vet wrap tomorrow so I can re-wrap Nocturnes foot. It may have to be Saturday, tomorrow is very busy!
If she just started laying, it may well gradually get bigger. Or, it may be a one off from the stress of moving. Give her a week or two to see if the egg size changes. If normal size by then, it may well have been stress of moving (they are creatures of habit - this move would have been very stressful for them!), if it gradually is getting bigger - it is just a young pullet getting her factory working and slowly ramping up to full size.

Note that, in my experience, some pullets only take a couple of weeks to get to their 'full size' egg when laying - others gradually increase over a couple of months to whatever their 'normal size' egg will be.

Be patient and she will reveal her normal egg size to you - be it super small for her size - or super big (hopefully not that latter, though!) 🥰

Safe in Detroit

Our first leg is complete. He did great on the ride.

At one of our snack stops and he chose the apple over meal worms.
I am so happy for Versace - that you found him a good home. He looks so magnificent in his traveling cage....but...shouldn't it be a golden cage for a man of his stature? I mean, really, HRH Aurora tended to him - he must be her nephew - so is royalty, you know!

And where are his attendants??? Or did they not want to spoil the picture of his lordship? All royalty must have an entourage of attendants to whisk in and serve their every need at a moment's notice;)

Seriously - he is a gorgeous boy, and, from what you have said, very sweet disposition. Such a wonderful gift to give/get!🥰🥰🥰. And, given that HRH helped raise him, he will be quite wise in the way of chicken!

Not that it's a cure but we feed diced cucumbers to laying hens since they have a property to reduce swelling. Ever seen ladies at luxury spas w/ cuke slices on their eyelids ~ supposedly to reduce puffy eyelids! I figure it might help somewhat to reduce vent swelling in laying hens. Couldn't hurt? Anyway, our hens love to eat cucumbers ~ even the leaves!

Cucumber hens
Yep that’s how my chickies ate my tomatoes 😁

You're are a gem. I think my old brain got that
Does anyone know how I got this? It's so lovely 😍
Not sure if you’re asking what you got, the PFM is usually from 1) purchased, 2) won in a contest (like when I got the caption contest for Mr P), 3) I think 30,000 comments (yep that’s how I got mine ♥️), 4) someone has gifted it to you (yep I had someone gift to me before I knew what it even was - it was so much fun to receive it ♥️♥️♥️♥️)

The new title - only you can do that, I see you put your new title there - love it!

I thought the 30,000 messages was a myth/joke!
