I don’t have the heart to tell her I love the palm tree 😉♥️
The Date Palm was indeed very gorgeous but the idiot who planted it had planted the trunk right up to the foundation!!! The palm fronds were destructive growing thru the roof tiles, the trunk & roots were right against the wall foundation chipping off stucco, & the inedible dates fell by the bucket loads soiling the walkway & driveway! No amount of beauty made this a safe planting whoever the previous idiot owner was ~ obviously someone w/ no arborist knowledge of where to plant or how large trunks & roots expand in trees!!!

This has to be the same nin-kum-poop 🤣 who planted a Peach tree, Orange tree, & Rose bush right at the chainlink base so that the trees & rose bush expanded to have no room to grow except right thru the chainlink fence!!! Don't people research before they do something ~ having no knowledge of what their actions will harm?

The idiot rose bush growing thru the chainlink fence ~ at least for a little while our 1st hens used it for shade & snoozing under :D

Under the back corner wall the Peach tree trunk bump can be seen under the blue tarp. Some of the limbs from the tree are gnarled into the chain link & are dead & hardened so it was impossible to cut them out thru the chainlink. Like I said ~ idiots :idunno🤪

Feel free to ignore this rabbit hole, but while @rural mouse has her genetics laser focused on blue and lavender, here is Piglet.

She is an ‘Opal Legbar’. The color is often referred to as ‘Isabel’.
I believe Piglet is a Crested Cream Legbar with a Lavender gene.
Does that sound right? Is Isabel just another name for Lavender?

As you know, I am perfectly happy that she is simply a pretty chicken, but also keen to learn. What fascinates me about Piglet’s feathers is they are all sorts of shades of pale grey. You can somewhat see in this picture (I will try to get a better pic), but she also has markings (barring?) on many feathers but all washed out.
When I go out today I will try and find some of her feathers that show it more clearly.
BEAUTiful Legbar variety!

The light "barring" you're referring to is from the barred rock in Legbar history to make the Legbar an auto-sexed breed at hatch.

"The Cream Legbar is the best layer of blue eggs. She is a cross between the Leghorn, Cambar, Barred Rock, and Araucana. She is also an auto-sexing bird, which means you can sex the chicks at birth."

Find some one with a willow tree this Spring, cut a branch about 2” thick and 8 to 10’ long and cut it off the tree.

Soak the cut end in a tall bucket for about a week in the shade, so it doesn’t get dried out. Once you start to see roots popping out, dig a hole deep enough to handle those roots and then once filled in throw the water at it. I would also stake it up the first year.

That’s also how you can start Poplars.

We cut a 10 to 12’ whip soak the ends in a barrel of water until you see roots then plant. Those trees grow fast! Willows almost as fast.

I would plant a willow here near the barn but the roots get into the well and wrap around pipes and electrical conduit. So be careful were you plant willows. Don’t do it next to your house, well, septic system….

It's funny how all the gray birds are referred to as blue or lavender ~ but in essence they sound more exotic than just "gray" ~ I loved calling my gray birds "blue" or "silver" ❣️

Kiddo loves Clyde, she says he's a silly clown.
Yup he’s a silly little turnip 😊

When the bin crashed down and I came running, he ran over to me for snuggles hahaha. He is such a big suck, I sure hope he stays that way and doesn’t turn surly like his Dada.
