I tried wrapping it up per instructions but she pecked it off.
She’s limping around, but eating well (better than me)
Chickens are determined peckers. You have to be more determined than them. Wrap it several times so when she pecks you can catch it before it comes off completely. We used regular 1st aid human white tape over the vetwrap tape 1st time we wrapped a chicken foot. The white tape is more secure against a chicken peck. It's great Coco has a good appetite!

I have poultry problems all around today. The Rockettes are perching in the coop, refusing to come down. The neighbors birds are coming over the fence to feast on my feeders. Nacho is watching her three little ones, my other group are being watched by Mr Wyandottey, and Coco is in the house and won’t let any other birds come near me (jealous I guess) it’s a madhouse I tell you!

Glad others have my drama!

Can you lock the feed in the coop with your ladies?

Clyde has had something that I think poor Teddy did not growing up. Clyde was babied and handled daily. Poor Teddy showed signs he was not handled a lot when he was younger. It may be in stark contrast to what a lot of experts claim when it comes to bringing up cockerels. A lot promote the hands off approach. I am a firm believer in handling "all" my chickens including the boys. I have done that to every single one I have raised and I have yet to have a human aggressive boy. I fully believe Clyde will not turn into a "Clyde the Horrible" like his daddy "Teddy the Terrible".

I also think if you had kept him and had time to put in the one on one work he needed by now Teddy would be a much better rooster.
This could be a truth.

And noted that Rosario was very much better after he became used to me and was handled a bit. And after he got put in his place. The lady who I gave him to says he is great with her hens. So happy he got a nice home.

Bert though was never friendly, he was very much like Mr P, did not go out of his way to interact with me, but not human aggressive at all.

Shirley is also not friendly, but he has no issues with me picking him up and carrying him, he doesn’t struggle at all. Ye gads though he weighs a tonne! I need to weigh him again, I think he is getting heavier. Actually he is a really gorgeous boy, and Mr P just beats the crap out of him. I don’t remember him doing that to Bert. Maybe he feels he needs to keep on top of him and keep him suppressed. He sure doesn’t do that to Mr LC or Clyde.

He puts the chase on Mr LC and Clyde but he doesn’t go all out wanting to beat the crap out of them, they run off and he stops the chase. But not with Shirley, he just runs him to ground.

I won’t ever let Mr P run loose with Shirley, for both their sakes. Oh and today those bratty pullets got to him and nipped the top of most of the new feathers on his left side of his head making them bleed!

:he

I cleaned him up, sprayed him, then figured I would trim up his beak it was over growing again, then trimmed his nails. I need to trim his spurs but I need another person to help with that.

Anyone with roosters know if those spurs can be surgically removed? They are interfering with his walking.
