Flying Chickens!

Has anyone had issues with small bird's or squirrels getting caught in netting like this? I would like to try it , but I'm afraid I would injure something unintentionally.
I've had my netting up for nearly 2 years..
No birds or squirrels caught, but I did rescue a Dragonfly once. It got caught where I overlapped the netting. I closed the gaps with extra zip ties. GC

Oh, no.... that’s ridiculous. And it would be can’t fly WELL. What’s wrong with people?
why don't people know a joke when they read it?
Why is it always the English grammar teacher that can't get a joke?
Now, class, we will not have any nonsense in here LOL.
When my birds were young and not laying they liked to fly a little. Now that they are laying and have some weight on them not so much.

No issue with my 2" netting (actually squirrels and small birds can get in and out... so that could be an issue for some folks). There's more tangling risk with finer/smaller mesh but the tradeoff is it can help keep smaller critters out. Either way, all netting should be secured fairly taut (but not tight) to minimize any tangling issues.

Several Black Rat Snakes, a couple European Starlings, a Coopers Hawk and a Great-horned Owl. Pain in the butt each time.

Oh my. I have TWO Leghorns. The twins. The bad twins. I love them but I can see them always being a handful. The one time she got on top of the run and flew down into our yard I just lifted the fence and she crawled under and came back to her flock. She is the one in my avatar standing on my boot.

My California White is like that.

I've nominated her chicken most likely to be eaten by a predator because she can fly out of (and back into), the pen any time she wants to.

🤦‍♀️

Over 40 years ago I had a Black Australorp hen that would roost in the coop with her flock mates at night but would fly out of the run at the crack of dawn. She would fly back into the run at dusk. She was a free spirit for sure.
