Found a banded pigeon! Connecticut!

So, I will give you a brief explanation. I don't want to write a book...

First, you want to let the pigeons see the area by putting them outside in a cage. Do this for several days. Then, train them to use a one-way-door. These are called traps. During this time, every time you feed them, make a certain sound such as a whistle, clapping, etc. They will then know that is the sound for food, and when free flying come in on command. so, after they know the area and how to come in, as well as when, you open the door! It then takes a lot more training to get them flying for 2+ hours, which is what I try to get mine to do.

Not the flying part, just the come on command part, regardless of location or flying. Would be great for any escapees.

I actually didn't realize especially at age 60 that I loved pigeons so much! My friend "Cooper" the Pigeon, flew into my garage escaping from a hawk at the very start of the pandemic. So far it's been 6 months, I built him a coop loft in may garage, got him 6 friends in another coup I built, & even found him a "Love of his Life". I've had alot of pets in my 60 years, but I do love Cooper so much! Their just so amazingly smart & loving! He flys outside all the time with his girlfriend & hope nothing happens (although I do have alot of hawks around but working on that) Cooper is fairly content flying around the yard but that's even dangerous. (I got 2 adult Hawks & a Baby! The Baby is Fast like Superman! 1st time I seen it was a Blur & have never seen speed like that. ) Hope you keep him, their just AMAZING animals!

Ah ha! Potential loft located! It's an old rabbit hutch, basically built like a prefab chicken coop. only 25$! Needs a little modification, though.

That looks perfect, actually! I would put some hardware cloth or heavy gauge wire on the floor and bump the whole cage up on some legs though if I were you.
