Help, How do I get rid of dead rat smell in house?

Oh gee thanks MD, I should have guessed that you would have such useful advice.
Actually, you will be pleased to know that we are snap trapping mice at present.
Ive had enough and I cannot trap them in the humane trap as they are getting out of the commune box which I empty them into after I trap them!
At least it is quick, quicker than any meatchooks demise!'
But boy this smell is real bad, why dont you come over and help me clean it up!!

burn some insense and put a boxfan in a window facing out for one day and one night.

When i was a teenager thats how i used to get all the horrible smells out of my room.

Now i just do my laundry. LMFAO

According to the Queen of Clean, use 1/2 tsp of Neutroleum Alpha and water filled to the top of a spray bottle. Spray where scents are undesirable.

I'll look for another solution, too, I don't know if you can get that downunder.

I had a male cat that urinated in my dining room. I did not notice it until the carpet was really soaked thru. I used many cleaners/deodorizers etc...to no avail. The "urine fragrance" remained until I actually lifted the carpet, changed the carpet padding and dried the floor underneath it all.

Good luck,
Nick

Okay, here are some more tips to try. Wintergreen oil is a wonderful deodorant. You can get it at a health food store. Put a few drops on a cotton ball and place around room, in plants etc. Make your own air freshener, in 1 gallon jug combine 1 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup clear ammonia and 1 tablespoon scent ( any scented oil or extract works) Slowly add 16 cups of warm water, label and store. To use, pour well shaken solution into a spray container and mist air as needed.

Hope these ideas help, they are more common ingredients. Good luck with your odor problem.

your home, your home !!!!!!!

i missed you abuches so did everyone else.

maby pull up the carpet were the dead varmit was found, sice its probably absobed in the wood underneth the carpet. ho[e your trouples are almost over. I cant stand the "dead" smell.

Welcome back from what I hope was a wonderfull vacation! Ohhh, the smell! I also know this smell. My mother lives in a mobile home..where cats used to get underneath all the time. Last summer, one took a dead something or other under there, and we was NOT able to retrieve it. Whatever you do....do NOT use pine sol! Ohhh, how that makes the smell even stronger! Can you get some orange oil spray? What about sweet PDZ...stall dry?? Sprinkle it on the carpet for 24 hrs, then vaccume it up. I sure hope your smell is gone soon. What a HORRID stench!
