Help with gender and breed

TSC orders from Hoover. They get delivered. TSC sells what they received. Hoover failed to sex them correctly or straight run was purchased which is a crap shoot. TSC is the middle ma as is always blamed for Hoovers errors.
Well, you can believe what you want. I have ordered multiple times online from TSC getting my chicks sent directly from Hoovers to me and never lost a chick and never received even a single wrong gender or breed.

It is well known that TSC put chicks in wrong bins, mislabels, etc..

Not only that, but they have a habit of putting two or three breeds in the same bin and adding a little sticky note that the “such and such breed” are the yellow ones and the “whatever other breed” are the red ones. (Or whatever description they think will work.) I’m sure there are a lot that get mixed up that way!

The one I really hate to see, and I would never chance buying from unless I wanted a rooster, is when they put a straight run breed in the same bin as a pullet only breed. Most of the times when I’ve seen this, it’s been two breeds that are very obviously different. But they shift older chicks from bin to bin as they get newer chicks, and they get even more mislabeled.

I do not think it’s Hoover’s mistake at all.

The thing that is good about getting chicks from TSC is the convenience of it and not having to buy a larger minimum number of chicks and breeds that you are faced with when purchasing online.

I have been tempted at times when I go in there, but I have been able to fight the urge so far lol I just order online and then I find someone to give my excess chicks to. The last time I ordered I gave chicks to a little neighbor girl and made her so happy. Other times it was a friend, or someone at work. And, that cost me money, but that is okay. I get what I want, and help someone else out.

Edit to add: I also have a wonderful local Post Office about 1/2 mile from my house that calls me immediately when my chicks arrive. If you don't have that, then, you may have a problem with dead chicks.

Last time I got chicks I ordered them through a local feed store (not TSC) the shipping minimum was 15 (way to many) but I was able to combine my order with other people who were ordering from there at the same time. So I beat the minimum and we all split shipping. And I also got exactly what I wanted, instead of having to pick through TSC’s terrible selection. And no surprise roosters
