I wasn't looking forward to manually loading hog rings one at a time when building my run.

Seen this at my local Tractor supply. Comes with 1000 rings for $34. You load the sleeve of rings and each squeeze results in a nice tight ring.

I used it to lock to cattle panels together. While it worked on the panels, two bars were too big for the jaws of the tool to fully wrap around the bars. I had to give them a little squeeze with a pair of pliers. I believe it will work great to secure HC to the panels as only one bar will be inside the jaws instead of two. They should work fantastic joining two pieces of HC together.
Not having to load each staple will definitely be a time saver.

Wow that's nifty. Yes loading up pliers with rings one at a time is pretty time consuming.

Not sure what to suggest on those cattle panels as the rings aren't really securing it well since they can't overlap, but they do work well on HWC as the wire is much thinner on that.

I ended up using some zip ties to lock the panels together. Once the HC is attached to them, it will also add to the stability.

Do not care for either hog rings or Jclips...
...but have read that getting the 'better' pliers is best for both.
Looks like you got the 'Cadillac' version of pliers!

I have a pair and couldn't get it to work on 1/2 HWC except on corners

Well, unfortunately you are correct. The jaws are too bulky to fit in 1/2 HC. Corners, or larger grid fencing it works great.
I'll keep them for other projects, but it definitely didn't help me with attaching the HC to my hoop run.

The best pair I found for 1/2 HWC was a cheapy at Menards in the chain link fencing section. They were thinner width wise... not sure if they still carry them.

I ended up using rebar ties ( metal wire) opposed to wire ties to fasten the HC. Don't have to worry about the rebar ties deteriorating like wire ties eventually will, and there chew proof too.
