I have a couple Africans and a Chinese and the nest has 21 eggs in it. Can a goose sit on that many eggs? I tried to make another nest with 8 eggs but all three laid in the original nest today. One of them is getting ready to set because down feathers were everywhere today. What would you do?

Have you marked the eggs so you know which are the oldest? if so I'd take the oldest out and leave abouut 10-12 in there. but if they are still laying then they may not be quite ready to sit.

No I haven't marked the eggs. I don't guess I ever have. Usually something would always set before it became an issue.
Once some one goes broody and they come out for a little R&R go in and take out the dirtiest eggs till you have about 10-12 in the nest . Thats my advise hopefully someone else can help you more if thats no agreeable.

I can tell which ones are the newest. Im going to take all the older eggs out today and give them to my dad to incubate. He has an empty incubator.
Well now theres a plan. let us know whats going on.

Well the African started setting two days ago on 14 eggs. This morning I went out and the her and the Chinese were both sitting on the same nest. I have another nest with 4 eggs in it and was hoping the other geese would lay in it. She still has 14 eggs so they arent laying with her in it. I may have two broody geese. I will know more the next few days.

Exciting for sure. keep us updated.

Well. She has 15 now. I ran the other geese out and closed her off from the rest of the geese.
Good idea, especially if she is sitting consistently now, that way all goslings will hatch within a few days of each other and hopefully you won't have mama getting up leaving eggs about to hatch to care for her now hatched goslings.
