I need answers ASAP. Tyson has a huge chicken barn across the street from me, they told me to get r

Unless there is some restriction in your deed you can tell them to suck it up or buy you out so you can move.
That company does not pay your property taxes or note, they have no say about the air you breath or what you do on your own property.
don't know why they are worried they keep them chickens on all kinds of stuff just to get them to market.

IMO.. they want to keep other poultry a half a mile away then they need to buy more land so the can be that far away.

There is no contract, you did not sign anything in a stipulation when you. Purchased your farm land. If they own the Tyson plant by you they would have included this in the contract and there for your not legally doing by getting rid of them. There thinking your birds can get there's sick, or there's gettting yours sick. It's a bully tactic and they know you are kind and there for trying the bull **** tactic. Your chickens are ok, no contrast no rights. They sold you the land knowing there business is right across the road, and what would a person do with all that land ? Chickens are a given duh lol. I say be polite but form, my land my birds, if she goes further tell her you will need to see legal paper work, and inform her if there is a legality you will have to notify a lawyer, I would say its a done deal, you keep your birds.

Hear hear......the law is in the writing and keep your chickie mamma's darlin'!!!!

Too bad too sad for them.....they need to get a good lawyer, who wont miss the obvious, for the next time they sell!!

I could recommend one if they needed!!

LOL!!!

They can't make you move or get rid of your birds EXCEPT that if they really want to (and my they I don't mean the owners of the farm, I mean Tyson) have you get rid of your birds it's not outside of the realm of possibility for them to have some crazy local law enacted that says that you have to keep poultry 1/2 a mile from your property line. Corporations have a lot of pull. But no, until they do that they can't make you do anything. It sucks to have to tell them that, especially if they really are nice people, but you have the right to keep birds unless and until they have a local law against it in your area. Not that I would give them any ideas on that front- just tell them you looked into the situation and there is no legal way they or Tyson can tell you where or how to keep your birds.

If you own the land how can a private company tell you what you can and can't do? They could make like difficult if there are any zoning restrictions on your place, but short of that I'd say it stinks to be them! Good luck and let us know how it goes

When you purchased the property a lawyer did the title search for you. That lawyer has looked at the old deed and written the new one. That lawyer would be the best person to ask about laws that might affect you in the situation. The lawyer might not be as familiar with rules that may affect you at the town level so a call to your Town Hall will also arm you with whatever information you may want to understand what your rights are.

Good luck getting it resolved happily!
