See - you are a pro already!also!
I HAVE A TIP!!!
do not listen to chicken sound clips in front of or near your chickens.
you're welcome.
whenever i put them in the little run. or even the polytunnel, where i will put them if i can’t keep an eye so much but i am at home, and i put them in the polytunnel in the evening so they can dust bathe or jump on things or scratch around in the sand/straw/weeds, they will complain a few minutes and then go into the coop. today, for instance… i did put the pile of weeds in and scattered some seeds and a few mealworms so they can look for them, but they just go right in the coop in the nesting boxes and they don’t come out.The decision us up to you. Do what feels most comfortable.
Maybe I can add an anecdote to make you feel comfortable to lock them up for a few hours.
Couple of years ago we had a lot of snow and it froze for over a week. The chickens could go outside in the run or free range but didn’t. My 6 hens stayed in the coop/tiny run voluntarily. Only 3m2 for 6 bantams.
Giving something to eat like pieces of grass (grind stones on the side) and scattered mixed grains is a good thing. I dump/scatter these in the big run when Im away almost the whole day.
louise is much more reserved (though she’s been letting her hair down a bit) but thelma would live in a pot if she could!Thelma and Louise's love of pots makes me want to buy one for my girls!
perfect!
