I candelled it this afternoon and the green had leaked/spread into the air cell and the duckling had died. :-(

I agree, probably bacteria. I had one that look like that and it died too. Upon inspection of the inside of the shell I could see what looked like a spot where bacteria had entered, and the yolk of the duckling was basically one mass of pus. Don't feel bad, I'm sure nothin could have saved it.I did not open it but I suspect that it was in fact bacteria the eggs actually came from someone else that doesn't do very well at keeping the nest boxes clean. I did my best to clean them before I set them. The other 9 eggs will lockdown in two days!!
