Incubating ducks weird spot, bacteria maybe?

But we always appreciate info like this for future reference. Did you happen to open the egg and take any more pics?
Any idea what caused it? Was it dirty before you set it?

I did not open it but I suspect that it was in fact bacteria the eggs actually came from someone else that doesn't do very well at keeping the nest boxes clean. I did my best to clean them before I set them. The other 9 eggs will lockdown in two days!!

I agree, probably bacteria. I had one that look like that and it died too. Upon inspection of the inside of the shell I could see what looked like a spot where bacteria had entered, and the yolk of the duckling was basically one mass of pus. Don't feel bad, I'm sure nothin could have saved it.
