Oh my goodness How wonderful 100% Congratulations!!!! They are all adorable no telling what colors they change so much over the course of weeks. All but the solid yellow if they have no other color they most likely will be all white with blue eyes.
Such precious babies. You already have homes for the ones your not keeping?
5 isn't too many to keep @Blacklotus Look how cute they are all together and look at that happy face on your dd. If you do give away please give at least 2 -3 together never only one that would make for one very lonely duckling they are very much flock animals.I am keeping two, my parents are taking one or two aswell, and the rest I will give away to good homes, I won't advertise them online yet until they are a week or two old
And thankyou guys, here are some pics of them all together... cute lil family of 5my daughter can't get enough of them! it's going to be heartbreaking parting with the ones I'm not keeping
~~~
That's exactly why I wanted to keep two, I've seen them all huddle together and can tell they don't like to be alone or too far away from one another.5 isn't too many to keep @Blacklotus Look how cute they are all together and look at that happy face on your dd. The rest of the babies have made it!
All 5 babies have entered the world
Super happy and proud of them all. I'm also glad my cheap incubator did the job, everything went perfectly, I had no major issues (apart from the humidity) and the bator stayed strong for the whole 5 weeks. Pretty good for a cheapy! With having 6 eggs to start with, but one never forming.. I had 100% hatch rate.
I have already picked the two cute and fluffies that I would like to keep here at home with me, the two that were first to come, with the black patches on them. I've grown attached to them, always walking around with them in my shirt, lol. The newest and last to arrive is interesting, he has a lot of black and dark colours.. he is at the top of the photo on his own, he just hatched couple mins before this pic. I'm wondering if he's even a muscovy, or will he just be a dark/black muscovy? I will upload better pics of them all tomorrow once the newbies have dried completely.
@Blacklotus what are your temps. At around 2-3 weeks they can handle temps at 75-80Fas long as they are out of wind.Go by how they are acting when you turn on the heat lamp do they all get under it? when it's not on are they all snuggled up together like they are cold? They are beautiful and have grown so much. Around 3 weeks on you should start to see tiny feathers coming in usually starts at tip of tail . Thanks for the great pics.Little update on the kids! all growing happy and perfectly. I have learnt to tell the darker ones apart, so I know who is who now by little markings on the head etc. The yellow ones though, no idea who is who hehe.
They are stinky little balls of fluff that love to poo all day, but I am happy to clean it all up if it means I get cuddles and love everyday
What age do they start to feather? and when can I remove the heat lampit's been really warm here so i've only had the heat lamp on during the night.
X3 sooo precious!Awww so precious!
I agree with Miss Lydia. Let them tell you how they are doing. I remove heat fairly early with my chicks. Then if they whine or huddle up too much, I know they are too cold. Most can handle it much younger than we give them credit for, but its also dangerous (even fatal) for them to get too cold, so let them guide you.
for you. I've had good luck and bad luck incubating Muscovy eggs. The good luck came when I did nothing but turned them daily and increased the humidity at first internal pip. I was amazed. Here is a great thread to read https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/incubating-and-hatching-muscovy-eggs It is common for eggs to be a day to a few apart so no worries there.
