Hey all.
So,
Quick run down:
We have 3 older chickens (2x Brahmas and 1x silkie x araucana) (7-13 weeks old).

We have 1x 4-5 week old chick (was told to be an araucana. But could be an Easter egger too).

And we have our now 7 chicks (was 8, now 7 due to the unfortunate passing of one.)

Anywho,
When it comes time. How would we introduce our younger chick 4-5 wks) to the older 3 girls?
The silkie cross seems mean and keeps jumping up and pecking her through the separated area she’s in as we are trying to integrate slowly. (No heat. Hasn’t been on it since we bought them. The other 2 she was with have since left. So it’s just her. Hence trying to integrate!)
The two Brahmas have been fine and are even dust bathing near the young chick. And there’s been no issues!
Not sure what to do.
Help!

When you say no heat,,,,,, are you in a very warm climate that ambient temps are sufficient??

A possible quick fix solution to SilkieX pecking; Trim the upper beak. Then use emery board to smooth the edge. That usually stops pecking.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

Yep. We are in Aus. We are having 30-38 degree temps (Celsius). And “low” temps of 23-25 at night most nights!

I’ll have a look at that!

It is a bit late but get them eating together along their fence line:

Bri has some other helpful videos on her channel too: https://www.youtube.com/@thefeatherbrain/videos

Also crosses seem to be meaner, I don't know why or how but pure chickens know that a cross is not pure so all the pure chickens will try to make sure that a cross will not rise up in the pecking order which puts pressure on the cross to get crafty and mean to try and rise up the pecking order ranks.

Hey!
So we ended up rehoming our bully and her friend. Now they are thriving in someone else’s flock - well. Thriving-ish. Neither will roost with the flock and just roost together so she had to build them a mini coop just for them 😂 they eat and drink and sleep and forage together. So happy news there I guess.
We kept one out of 3 of the older chicks, and got her in with our lone Brahma that I kept, and it went perfect.
Our younger chicks are 8 weeks old, so are now outside in a mini coop with pen set up :) the big girls can see them every day. But not touch them. It’s been working really well so far. We’ve also introduced older girls and have had no issues ever.
