I have six white pekin ducklings I plan to show at my local fair. Yesterday I noticed that one of the ducklings had sort of separated itself from the others. It was acting relatively normal other than being separated. I put it with the others but they walked away from it. So I picked up to give it a once over and noticed it's eyes looked a little pink and goopy. I notified my friends who keep their ducks with mine but I didnt see it on any others so I just planned to keep an eye on it. However today I noticed it on a few other ducklings as well. My vet wont be back till Monday so I was hoping to maybe get some clarity here. I've dealt with conjunctivitis in cows before and this has a similar look but I'm not even sure if that's what it is. And I know ducks get foamy eye pretty often but I haven't seen and bubbles in their eyes. They have a pool they get in every day and plenty of fresh water. I scrub there pool every morning so I know the pool isnt dirty. If I could get some advice or if someone has experienced this what it might be. I only have the one picture but can take more if you guys need more than one to look at.
I’d try rinsing the eye with saline like for use with contacts then applying some Terramycin Eye ointment. The eye ball looks good, but around the lid looks irritated. Isn’t conjunctivitis contagious? @casportpony any ideas?
